Homework 9: Ecommerce Home and Ecommerce Internal

Homework 10: Scrollrama

Homework 11: Isotope- still working on it

Homework 12: Transitional- no chance of starting

I’d obviously like to have my last two projects dropped because they just don’t exist. You haven’t seen my Game Salad game- it’s similar to whack-a-mole with a 30 second timer and sharks instead of moles because everyone hates sharks. You have also not seen my Scrollarama, of which I am very proud so please look. I think it’s a great promotional-type site for my work. Everything is clickable also which is pretty cool. I’d like an A in this class because I think you can definitely see improvement in my work. I’m doing to do a little defending now:

My Parallax was intentionally dark and moody and I decided not to change it. I searched out those photos and shopped them to all look like that, so I’m sticking by that choice because I still like it. It’s Night Before Christmas-y

My Ecommerce site could definitely use more words, but I still think it’s pretty eegant while being functional and simple

My slider is one of my favorites because I started to shoot for these projects instead of searching for images. It was motivational

My Scrollarama is my favorite. It’s simple and matches my site and is pretty

Anywho, this class was really great and I will definitely be taking more web design classes, most likely after I graduate. I’m even considering a graduate degree… what have you done?!

Have a great Christmas!

If I had 1,000 fans, I would be so happy. To have someone like my work enough to call themselves a fan, I just cannot explain the feeling.

1000 True Fans

After reading the article regarding 1000 True Fans, I feel as though having such true fans seems like a comfortable spot for an artist to be at in terms of popularity. Having 1000 true fans is what an artist needs to make a living, according to the article, but not make a fortune. Making a living vs making a fortune is what keeps many people humble and engaged in what they’re doing, whether it’s making music, painting, etc. I also like how the article highlights that you don’t need millions of fans to be considered a great artist. Instead, you need a sufficient amount of true fans, whether it’s 500, 1000, or 5,000. The true fans are the fans that every artist strives to gain.

I’ve never been one to put any of my work out there for others to view, critique, etc., therefore gaining any kind of true fans would be a little tough at this point. Assuming I had 1000 true fans today, I would be extremely motivated to keep putting out artwork for my fans.I honestly don’t know how I would react to such a fan base because I’ve never had any sort of experience to relate back to, regarding fans of any sort. Luckily, contacting these fans is much easier in today’s time that it was 10-20 years ago, thanks to digital social media. Using something like Facebook or Twitter seems like the ideal method to keep in touch with a number of 1000 true fans. With this fan base, I think I’d remain a humble artist and keep producing as much work as possible, keeping in mind that the true fans are what help me make my living.

1000 True Fans

I think the idea of having 1,000 true fans is both exciting and overwhelming. It would be amazing for that many people to be interested in my work, but it was would also be somewhat scary. I’m a pretty shy person, so the thought of that many people being interested in me and my work is foreign and sort of terrifying. To keep in contact with all of those people, I would have a website! I might keep a blog as well, since “true fans” would probably also be interested in hearing about my life, and not just be strictly interested in my artwork.

Homework 3

Grasping the idea of having one thousand true fans is almost impossible at this stage of my life. When I look around me at who my “true fans” really are, they mostly consist of friends and family that may or may not be a “true fan.” My parents and friends are those who will support me no matter what the circumstance. If i were to have produced more work, and be interested in selling it and working for clients, I would probably go about it through social media. Growing up in this digital age, I know art not because of Galleries or Exhibitions close by, but by the countless hours of browsing the internet. I have found my favorite artists through search engines and Facebook. If I were in that situation, I would almost rely on social media and the internet to distribute and sell my work, contact my fans, and to keep a continuous portfolio of my past works. A successful website which presented my work in a fashionable way would be ideal to attract a bigger audience to view my work.

I would be scared with the fans having a Google Alert set for your name because they would know the moment that I have uploaded something new at the time I uploaded it. But it would be cool with the small circle of diehard fans, which can provide you with a living. I can’t believe or imagine being an artist with 1000 true fans because I don’t think that that many people will like my work. I would contact them though a blog, or a website.

1,000 fans

I thought this article was interesting because it puts a number on something so many of us think of as intangible. When you think about making a living as an artist it seems kind of like a nightmare. While 1,000 people seems like a lot to me, I know in this digital age so many people have 1,000′s of followers. I wonder though if true fans even exist in this age anymore though. It’s a different world where you can reach more people, but in a less personal way. I feel like people are less committed and more worried about their own internet persona. Also, I worry I’m the sort of person the article notes as not wanting to interact with 1,000 fans. I think I would need a mediator. But if I had 1,000 people following me I might have more confidence to produce more work. This definitely gives me more motivation to keep up with a blog and instagram etc. because it really can start your career. This article was awesome with the way it combined some basic economic ideas and facts with the crazy art market.

It would be amazing to be an artist with 1,000 true fans. I can imagine it, but I can’t really know what it feels like until it becomes true. I’ve thought about what it would be like to have my art really affect people before, and I think it would be a really incredible feeling. If I ever become an artist with 1,000 true fans, I will contact them however they contact me. The interaction with a true fan would probably be just as rewarding (if not more so) than creating the art itself.

1000 True Fans

To me, having 1,000 “true fans” would be absolutely amazing. It’s really inspiring hearing about people who have true fans that are willing to buy anything and everything from an artist they love. However, I don’t find this 100% accurate because I feel as if there can be people that are true fans of an artist but don’t have the money to buy everything the artist has made. In my opinion, a true fan is one who follows your work carefully and appreciates your work for what you’re able to convey in the piece. If the concept of a “true fan” is completely possible, it’d be amazing to have 1,000 people willing to do that for my artwork. I’m not sure how I would contact them because that’s a lot of people, but it’d be nice to interact with them and find out what they like about my art.
