Please post an entry on the blog of at least three sentences focusing on

Unrelated But Interesting: Installation /  Performance

There was an installation art piece in George Town. The artists name is Ernest Zacharevic’s, he is an artist that does art on the street. This is interesting because the city makes him take down most of his work. However his latest work was allowed to stay up. The latest work is a golden frame on a hole in the road. This is interesting to me because its cool art but also the fact that the art is in constant danger of being damaged by cars and by weather.

Please post an entry in your blog.  Take a screenshot of your favorite site and explain why – in a full paragraph at least – you like it so much.

My favorite site is www.pcworld.com. This site is great because of the information it can tell you. This information is about the computers and technology which is information that I love. The cite is also easy to use and they have cool hacks and that can make your computer supper fast. They also talk about gaming on the site and I am a huge gamer. This site is my favorite because it has all the information that I care about on one site. Also, I tried to put a picture but it wouldn’t let me paste it.

Find a website that you love with multimedia, animations or some sort of immersive vivid media experience. write a paragraph on why you love it and link to it on the blog.

I think this site is awesome. It has cool artwork and it also shows how the make wiskey at the jack Daniels distillery. When you click on the labels it takes you to specific buildings in the site and then it brings up information on what that building does and when that building was made. I think this is great because it is a great way to make an informational cite if this was made to be ecommerce or a communicational cite it would be to slow and the animation would distract from the purpose of the cite.

Please post an entry in your blog about the Reading below.  Can you imagine being an artist with 1000 true fans?  How would you contact them?

If I had a thousand fans tomorrow I would get in contact with them by using social media. Using sites like facebook and twitter would make my life a lot easier because it helps you sort all the information you get from then fans and lets me respond to fans that I feel deserve it. It also, lets me post my events and ideas so that my fans can read them and can comment on them so that there is a line of communication. Lastly, If I had a thousand fans and I was rich I could hire people to go through my facebook and twitter and have them sort information for me.

Finally, here are my three blog posts:

I like the home page of United Talent the most out of all four. It’s simple and artistic and doesn’t bombard me with information that I don’t need. I think the idea of having a website work with a simple navigation bar and then provide necessary information with a shadowbox-like effect. I think the presentation of the website’s information itself is the most creative, but it is hard to read bold white body text on a black background. Also, I think that the text boxes that pop up could be bigger for the screen as well, because almost all of them have scrollbars inside anyways.

The initial page for the APA Agency doesn’t thrill me too much. My initial thoughts were that it as a website for local actors, and not Oscar-winning actors and famous comedians that they manage. I would have liked to see a more creative or better-designed page with more space in between elements because everything feels cramped in the middle. Moreover, the headings for each page have uneven black borders and don’t feel like they relate to what the section is about (ex: the chairs don’t feel like they are describing what an “About” page is). However, I do think that their Comedy page is very successful. I like that it gives small thumbnail pictures for all their comedians with the name, and then the option to click to get more information. I think the presentation of those that they manage is very clean and simple.

The general layout for the Circle talent agency seems to be the most successful. The navigation is simplified to five main pages, and the colors and design of the logo are reflected in the color scheme of the website, in the fonts and the blocky-ness of the layout, for example the different tinted blue stripes below the navigation and the horizontal rectangles for each person in their “Roster” page. The only thing I found that needs to be improved was that the information on the lower half of the home page needs to be eliminated. The list of names is very long, and is just repeating what the site presents in the roster. That way, the “Latest News” section all the way at the bottom could be moved up and given some importance.

I like the small animation in Capital’s logo for the home page. The main problem with the home page is that the text is not consistent for the navigation. Some of the words are distorted and badly done from a typographical perspective. The navigation immediately changes in the internal pages, so I think that should be brought in to the home page. The “Designers” page has a nice effect by revealing names by clicking on the photos, but the alignments of the photos is inconsistent with the margins and the spacing. I think that this site has potential for the unique ways it presents its identity as a talent agency, but it needs the most refinement out of all four sites.

2. I’m critiquing Ted’s infographic from the beginning of the semester. You can see it again here. I think it is one of the most successful infographics out of the class. First off, the images he made were simple but clear, and in themselves looked like abstract art, which I enjoyed. Also, the idea to have all these colored pieces come together in the end was unique and fun to see. It closed the project nicely and helped to connect all the information that was throughout his slides. He definitely spent time on it and it looks nice. The only thing I didn’t like at first was that on the first slides, I didn’t understand the purpose of showing the filled circles, but I was able to figure it out. To be extremely nit-picky, in the last slide, the color pieces don’t line up with others in some spots (looking at the circles), but they do in the beginning of the project. I’m only saying that because I don’t see anything else that needed major improvements. If it were my project (and I wish it was!), I would try using a few of the colors in the title “Ted’s Life” or in the slides throughout, like the hours of the activities or the percentage information, just to see what it looks like. It would be to just get some more color in the text, because the grey and white are a little monotonous. However, I don’t think this is necessary because it succeeds without.

3. I personally don’t like to write a lot on the Internet, unless I have something important to say (excluding social media, which is mostly unimportant rants about life). But every time I go to write on a blog, e-mail, or post anything on the Internet, I am always aware that someone will read it. It’s true how much this “audience effect” that the article talks about can change what is written on the Internet. In most cases, people still write and post crap on the Internet without giving an audience a second thought, but I used to write a lot when I was younger. Even though I knew I was the only one who was going to read it, I always tried to write as if I had an audience to appeal to. It’s crazy how knowing that you have an audience can completely change the effort you put into your work and how you present your ideas.

4 Placement Agencies

To me these are the top 4 placement agencies. They are very good or searching what you want and need and they are efficient in whatever you are looking for no matter which side you are on, wether you are the hirer or candidate.

Kelly Services It breaks down what kind of job yo want (temporary, full time, etc.)

Find a Recruiter this breaks it down by what job field you are in or want to be in

Robert Half this breaks it down by job title and area you want to work in

Seek Searches what is available to the hirer. It is only what is in the site and what the employer puts on this site.

Homework 10: Scrollrama

Homework 11: Isotope- still working on it

Homework 12: Transitional- no chance of starting

I’d obviously like to have my last two projects dropped because they just don’t exist. You haven’t seen my Game Salad game- it’s similar to whack-a-mole with a 30 second timer and sharks instead of moles because everyone hates sharks. You have also not seen my Scrollarama, of which I am very proud so please look. I think it’s a great promotional-type site for my work. Everything is clickable also which is pretty cool. I’d like an A in this class because I think you can definitely see improvement in my work. I’m doing to do a little defending now:

My Parallax was intentionally dark and moody and I decided not to change it. I searched out those photos and shopped them to all look like that, so I’m sticking by that choice because I still like it. It’s Night Before Christmas-y

My Ecommerce site could definitely use more words, but I still think it’s pretty eegant while being functional and simple

My slider is one of my favorites because I started to shoot for these projects instead of searching for images. It was motivational

My Scrollarama is my favorite. It’s simple and matches my site and is pretty

Anywho, this class was really great and I will definitely be taking more web design classes, most likely after I graduate. I’m even considering a graduate degree… what have you done?!

Have a great Christmas!

http://www.agentassociation.com/ This website looks very early internet. It could really use an update. Some things line up and others don’t. Everything’s too tight. Gotta get it redone, guys.

http://www.unitedtalent.com/ This website looks nice and sleek. Very hip. If I were a hip young artist, I would be attracted to this site. I like this site. Nice an minimal.

http://www.circletalentagency.com/ This website is pretty standard. They could use some drop down menus to not have such a cluttered homepage. As of now, it’s a little off-putting how much stuff is there. Overall, though, this is a nice site.

http://www.apa-agency.com/ This is a nice looking site. They keep the homepage simple and easy to navigate. It’s not as sleek as United, but it has its own look going for it, and that look is a good look.

Website review in order of preference:

I like this website the most because it is modern, clean, and attractive. I like their color scheme. I think the interior “blog” and “find work” pages are particularly nice, however, I find the headings of the interior pages a little cluttered. I really like how their navigation system looks.

I like the color scheme of this one a lot. That peach coral color and the turquoise are my two favorite colors. I like how inviting the website feels. I like their logo too. But I think that they distract from its simplicity by crowding it with text. The search function is really nicely laid out. Their portfolio examples are nice too.

I’m placing this one third because I like the large images on their slider. However, the text over the images is a little bit difficult to read. And the slide with all the people, and the text, feels crowded. I don’t like the big white block for the navigation system either. I like the brown sections of the homepage because they feel clean and well organized. I think their menus are too crowded. Their overall search function is nice enough, though.

Hate this website! It’s so ugly. It’s functional enough and at least it isn’t too crowded. But it lacks overall style and design taste. It feels very amateur. Their logo is pretty lame too.

My Layer Slider.

First, I want to say I pretty like this website. First, I like the background image, I like the background color, especially the title and subtitle of the website. The web use gray for the option box, and choose a huge size discount image to catch people’s eye balls, plus all their productions (PC) are designed so fashion, so cool, this web has  a strong purpose: “ young people”, I think every young people would like the feeling:”cool” when they purchase, the style, the  visual impact really catching people.

Same gaming PC website. but so different with the “power one”. The first one is pursuing the fashion, the modern feeling. But the dell alien ware as a old brand, professional gaming PC, they have a totally different pursue, they just focus on the high-end brand, high-end products, don’t succumb to mid-range, only do high-end products, only to do the best products.Even if the price of their product compared with similar products is higher, but they never lack of the market, it is because of their web pages and the design of the product already in people’s hearts left a deeply rooted concept, people would rather spend more money, also want to buy a worthy of trust, high-grade products.

Lenovo is a brand that focus on the mid-range consumer groups. From their web design can be seen, they are not pursuiting of the perfect brand, the above message in their website, more is all about how to promote, how to lower the price, the same configuration, meager profit but high turnover. So on their web page was not decorated too much, especially close to life.

Asus is a brand which is comprehensive, they have the low-end products, also have the production that could match with alien high-end products. We can see two very different styles of design in the same brand website, they try to  walk at the forefront of fashion, and never backward, but the biggest advantage of them is the qulity , with the most trustworthy quality, don’t lag behind the configuration of the variety of choice, dominated the half of the market.Through their web page design, we can feel both of their high-end game PC and the high content of science and technology of the computer at the same time, we can also feel cheap and fine. So their design is simple, elegant, and do not break the public aesthetic.
