Assignment 13 – Megan Baker

Blog: Yeah… lots of work… had to finish a 9 page paper and a 5 to 10 minute presentation for it. Had to finish designing and actually hand making two books for a typography class. Still working on a 12+ page paper for an honors seminar and studying for an all essay exam on the history of film. Plus all the stuff for this class and the fact that my mother is still going through all of her treatments for her breast cancer (she had her double mastectomy earlier this semester). So yeah… I’m stressed and there’s a lot of crap to do… whatever… I just need to get good grades… OTL

Here’s my website for a good cause thing

Assignment #5 – Megan Baker

Here is my redesign for the hotel Rouge in Washington DC

As for traveling… I love going pretty much anywhere, any time. I adore traveling of all sorts (so long as it’s at least vacation at some level) but I ESPECIALLY love traveling abroad. My favorite places I’ve traveled thus far in my life are Latvia (Riga), England (various), Ireland (all over), and France (Paris). It is unbelievably cool to get to see different people and cultures, hear different accents and languages, see famous landmarks that are older than the united states is period (some twice as old!). Some day in the future I’d love to have been to every country in Europe, Japan, Australia, and anywhere in Africa where I can go on a real safari! <3 <3 <3 (This is not to say the US isn’t cool… I love NYC, and Florida, plus I’d love to live in California after I graduate). Traveling is awesome and I can’t believe how incredibly lucky I am to have gotten to see so many neat places already in my life (including so many other parts of the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and parts of Sweden!)

Assignment #4 – Megan Baker

Be Prepared for an engaging tale of one very incredible ant, known fondly by the name of Henry. His journey is one of danger, adventure, thrills, and in fact a couple of bravely shed tears….: http://interactivemedia.seancohen.com/fa2012/Baker_Megan/Assignment4/templates/full-width/index.html

My favorite immersive media website website would probably have o be facebook. www.facebook.com. It’s got videos, pictures, things to click and link to, the ability to “tag” friends and like posts on your “wall”… it’s all very interactive and immersive, not to mention highly addicting, as people can spend hours upon hours on it all the time, and can’t seem to get off. I love facebook because it just offers an extremely wide variety of things for you to do, and share with anybody you might want to share it with (your friends, your family, whoever). The range of things is just so expansive that I find it rather hard to get bored on facebook, and it offers almost endless possibilities of things for you to immerse yourself in next.

Assignment #3 – Megan Baker

1000 True Fans
Currently being unable to make any sort of living in art, it’s hard for me to even try imagining having 1,000 true fans right now and that number just sounds so huge. The article was incredibly interesting and when you think about it, it makes perfect sense that if you had 1000 people who truly loved everything you made and were willing to pay out the nose for everything you made, then it definitely would be very possible to make a living off of that. I’m always surprised at the amount of money people are willing to pay in commissions for stuff, online, but if you were to multiply that amount by 1000 and then several times over again when customers repeat purchases, than someone could definitely make a living off of that. If I had 1,000 “true” fans I would probably set up some sort of web base to contact them with, having a website that provided them with all the information about when and where I would be places, what my email was, when and how to contact me, etc. That would be the easiest way to reach out to that many people who may be anywhere in the world, and if they really were your true fans they would definitely check it, frequently!
Hypertext
Hypertext is text that is displayed on computers, etc. with other links (hyperlinks) to connect the viewer to more data and references that they can gain access to. The examples that were given are hyperlinks.

Assignment2

So If you wanted to read the greatest story about lions EVER written… You probably shouldn’t click this link, but it’s got pictures of cute cubs, if that’s even a little bit appealing to you…

http://interactivemedia.seancohen.com/fa2012/Baker_Megan/Assignment2/index.html

And here are some of the cooler looking pictures, in my opinion, from the worth1000 website:

That’s some seriously awesome photoshop skills, plus it really says something about the way America both portrays itself and how it really is, some of the darker aspects of it anyway.

It’s chicken batman, what more could you want?

A little eh in the photoshop perfect editing department but it’s got great atmosphere!

Now that’s just freaking awesome… c’mon…. just stare at it… it’s awesome!

pretty cool looking, some parts look more “real” than others but overall it’s pretty cool
